Hi there, I’m Laura! I’m a soon to be nursing school graduate. I started blogging a couple of years ago and went hard and fast at it for a little over a year. I ended up burnt out and felt like I was forcing myself to write about things I didn’t care about (and quite frankly, no one else did either). Now though, just over a year later, I’ve decided to start again. Mostly out of quarantine related boredom, but also because I think it has the potential to be something I really enjoy doing. I’m looking for an outlet to share my experiences and the things I learn as a new nurse living in a new place.
I’m an Ohio transplant born and raised in Florida. I left Florida in search of colder weather (crazy, I know) and a new experience. I live with my amazing nurse boyfriend and two super cute doggos in an apartment in Cleveland, OH. I moved just over a month ago, right as all the COVID-19 craziness was picking up. Since my move, I’ve spent a lot of time holed up in my apartment, studying and watching Gilmore Girls. Hence, the start of my blog J
I have a bachelor’s degree in tourism and event management and owned my own wedding planning business for just over a year. When I decided to move, I made the decision to shut down my business for the time being and focus on school and re-establishing myself in a new place. Along with my bachelor’s, in just about a month, I will also be able to say I have an associate degree in nursing with a bachelors to follow. It’s been a long and stressful journey (just ask my friends), but there’s honestly nothing I’m looking forward to in life right now more than starting to work as a nurse in the hospital. I already have a job lined up, but I’m not ready to talk about it just yet.
I started blogging back in 2017 because I loved reading other people’s blogs and wanted to start one of my own. I got so carried away with trying to make it perfect that it ended up feeling like a tedious job instead of something fun. I want this blog to be a place for me to express myself and have fun. If other people end up following along with me, that’s great. If it’s just me and my dogs reading this, that’s great too. I’d love to be able to look back on this blog and have an exciting recollection of what was happening during this part of my life. I also want to have a place to share the things I learn as a student/new grad nurse/dog mom/new Ohio resident. I have no agenda and no plans besides to just write about what feels natural!
So, if you’ve made it this far and want to follow along with me, I’d love to have you. Something tells me this is going to be an exciting, fun ride, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
