If you know me at all, you know fall is my favorite season. I’m obsessed with it. I love wearing sweaters, dreaming about changing leaves, drinking pumpkin spice lattes and all the holidays. Even living in Florida where fall isn’t a real season, I still love it. I like to pretend the leaves are changing and the temperatures are dropping. If I had a choice, it would be fall all year. Because of this, I’ve made a list of some of my must do things for fall. Things even us toasty Floridians can do, that is.
Eat All the Pumpkin
The biggest thing you have to do during the fall is eat everything pumpkin! This time is the one time of year it’s okay to let your love for pumpkin run wild. When it comes to pumpkin, I’m as basic as can be, but I try to eat it only around this time of year. That way, the pumpkin will never lose its particular association with fall. During the fall though, there’s just no such thing as too much pumpkin. I keep several cans of pumpkin in my cabinet, that way I can pull some out a moments notice. If you need any pumpkin suggestions, feel free to check out this Pinterest board. So far this year I’m planning to make pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin coffee cake, and pumpkin ravioli. The next thing I need to add to my list is some pumpkin cheesecake! And of course, I’ve had my fair share of pumpkin spice lattes!
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
I’m all about fall traditions, and is there anything more traditional than visiting a pumpkin patch? I must admit I don’t get out to a pumpkin patch nearly as often as I’d like to, but I try to make an effort to go at least once a year. This year, I’m already making plans to head to a pumpkin patch a couple of hours away with some friends. Pumpkin patches scream fall. Pumpkins, hay rides, spending time outside enjoying the weather. There’s seriously nothing better. I must admit being at a pumpkin patch when it’s hot outside isn’t quite the same, but you can always try your best to pretend. And while I must say I don’t enjoy carving pumpkins, but I do love going to visit them.
The next thing you need to do during the fall is decorating! Everyone always decorates for Halloween of course, but what about Thanksgiving? It seems like once Halloween is over the next holiday is just sort of skipped over. Instead of skipping it though, why not embrace it?? Put pumpkins everywhere, decorate with fall colors and hang fake leaves from the wall! Christmas decorating can be fun, but there’s nothing quite like a welcoming home for fall. I’m finally at the point where I’m starting to build my collection up, and I can’t wait for my place to be overflowing with fall. There will be plenty of time for Christmas decorating come November 23!
Wear Warm Clothes
As I sit here writing this I’m imaging I’m wearing a cozy sweater and leggings, and my booties are sitting right next to me. And let me tell you, I LOVE IT! My obsession with fall clothes is so real. Is there anything better than packing away your summer clothes and pulling out your fall and winter ones?? Living in Florida, we don’t get ‘cold’ weather, but you best believe as soon as the temperatures fall into the low 80’s it’s time to pull out the winter clothes. It just doesn’t feel like fall without them. Regardless of where you live though, there’s no better time to wear your warm comfy clothes than in the fall when it’s just starting to get chilly, but it’s not too cold yet.
Drink Coffee Outside
Okay so this one may seem a little random, but drinking coffee while enjoying the weather is one of the most relaxing, calming things you can do. Don’t get me wrong; coffee is always good. But when it’s just starting to get cool and the fall weather is in full bloom, drinking coffee and enjoying the weather can be one of the most amazing experiences.
I hope you all have a fantastic fall season! I know I’ll spend it soaking up every minute of this gorgeous weather. If you’d like to see what I’m up to on a typical fall day, take a look at a day in my life.
