There’s seriously nothing worse than getting sick. Except getting sick when you have a busy week ahead. Don’t let being sick stop you from getting things done though, just remember it also means it’s a chance to relax and take some time for yourself. Here are my best tips for making it through when you’re sick and still getting things done.
When I’m sick, my least favorite thing to do is drink water. I mean I would rather have ANYTHING besides water. All of a sudden drinks I normally don’t even like start sounding appealing (Gatorade!), but I can’t convince myself it would be a good idea to have a glass of water. But of course, the best thing you can do for yourself when you’re sick is drink water. Grab your favorite cup, put a straw in it, and just keep sipping. You’ll make it through your glass before you even realize what’s happening.
Only Do What You Have To
There are always a million things on my to do list. I tend to try to get it all done, even when sick. It’s important to remind yourself you don’t have to do it all though. If there’s ever a time to be okay with not getting everything done, it’s when you’re sick. Think of it as a free pass to only do what you have to do and be able to relax more than usual.
Time When You Get Things Done
If you have to do anything, make sure you don’t do it all at once. Not only can a long list seem overwhelming, but it can also just be more than your sick body can handle. The best time to get things done when you’re sick is when your medication is working. Plan to get a couple of things done after taking Advil and then just relax. You’d be surprised how much you can get done while still relaxing.
Sleep, sleep, sleep! If you know me, you know how much I love to get my sleep. When I’m sick though I end up sleeping so much I become guilty about it. All that sleep though is so good for you! What the body needs more than anything when you’re sick is sleep and it’s so important that your body gets what it needs. Don’t feel like you need to do it all, just sleep!
That picture is from Wayfair by the way! I’ve been spending so much free time shopping for furniture these days. The countdown is on until I move into my own place and I can’t wait!
Make Time For You
Make time to do those relaxing things you don’t normally take the time to do. Things like taking a bubble bath, doing a face mask or binge watching your favorite show. Think of being sick as your chance to catch up on all of the things you’ve been wanting to do. It might be a real inconvenience, but make it an inconvenience you take full advantage of.
Know When Enough is Enough
Know when to stop and just relax. No one expects you to be super when you’re sick, and you should be proud of yourself for even making an effort to get things done!
