At the end of every month, I will be reviewing the books I have read. Being an avid reader I am always on the hunt for new books to enjoy. This month I read an oldie, two books I found by chance and an autobiography.
First up is Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. This book is about a young girl whose mother went missing when she was three. Ever since the girl was old enough to understand what happened she has been looking for her mom. I was unsure of how I liked this book at first, but by the end I was hooked. You find yourself rooting for all of the characters to find their happy ending. It was drama and mystery all wrapped into one. I spend the whole book wondering what was going to happen next and the book left me guessing until the very last page.
Everything I Never Told You
Out of all of the books I read this past month this one was my least favorite. It took me almost the entire book to figure out what the plot of the book was and even then I wasn’t impressed. It switches between several time periods and characters stories without differentiation. The premise for the book was good, a young girl found dead in the lake, but I didn’t think it was well executed.
The Magnolia Story
Oh my goodness if you haven’t seen Fixer Upper or read The Magnolia Story you absolutely HAVE TO! Chip and Joanna Gaines are two of the funniest most down to earth people you’ll ever watch on TV or read out. Their book was just as care-free and and easy to read as you would expect their book to be. It goes through the story of how they met to how they got to where they are today. A must read for sure!
So let’s take a minute to talk about Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Now I don’t know about you all, but I went through a major Twilight stage back when the movies were first coming out. Recently though, I re-watched the movies for the first time in a while and decided to read the books because I thought the first movie was JUST NOT GOOD. I wanted to see what my younger brain was thinking enjoying those books so much. After I started reading the book though, I realized it was WAY BETTER THAN THE MOVIE. If you haven’t read Twilight before or the last time you read it was in your middle school obsession stage, you should definitely try reading it again!
In less than 24 hours I’ll be on vacation, so expect a lot of books for next month!
