Something I’ve recently started spending more time working on is having a healthy, balanced diet. And while that may not always happen, when it does I go to bed feeling happy and wake up the next morning feeling slim and bloat-free. I’m always on the lookout for new recipes and food to try, so I wanted to share what my typical day of eating looks like for me.
I like to start the day off with something full of protein. My go to recently has been either egg whites with chicken apple maple sausage or protein powder and oats. I’m still on the look out for a great protein powder, but in the meantime I’m using up what I have. I’m all about being quick in the morning, so I usually pick foods I can make in the microwave.
I have both a morning and afternoon snack. I like to keep my snacks simple and easy to grab so I always have items such as protein bars, protein drinks and Greek yogurt on hand.
My two favorite things to have for lunch are salads and turkey or tuna wraps. I recently made a salad consisting of lettuce, quinoa, chicken, strawberries and feta cheese and I’ve been eating it regularly ever since. I like to make a big batch of all the lunch foods I’ll need for the week ahead of time so it’s easy to put together the night before.
I like to keep my dinners unique and change them up so I’m always trying new recipes. When I find something I like I’ll put it in rotation and have it every couple of weeks or so. My favorite place to get new recipe ideas is from Mix and Match Mama. There are always so many new and creative recipes on her site and the best part is, none of them take that long to make!
After Dinner Treat
Regardless of how my day goes, I almost always end it with some Halo Top ice cream and rice cakes with peanut butter. Ice cream and peanut butter and chocolate are some of my favorite things so the two of them together are basically my dream come true.
