The week of my graduation is finally here!! It’s hard to believe I started the Disney College Program back in August and graduation seemed so far away, but now it’s finally happened. I spent some time reflecting on my time in college, and you can read about that here.
Friday was the day before my graduation and the beginning of such a great weekend! I spent time with my friend Aimee for most of the day. We got our nails done and had Carrabbas for lunch. Then we spent some time just hanging out at her apartment. That evening my family and Aimee’s mom came into town. We had Bonefish for dinner and talked about the exciting things that were to come.
After dinner Aimee somehow managed to convince my to decorate my graduation cap. It was late and I was ready for bed, but I went along with it anyways. She went to Michael’s and got what we needed while I get my stuff together. We then spent a couple of hours decorating my cap. It may have been exhausting, but I’m glad I did it!
Saturday was finally the big day! After what feels like forever, I graduated! My ceremony was at 10:00am, so I had to be there at 8:00am. It was a cold morning and I had to wait in line for what felt like forever before I could get inside. The actual ceremony was a couple of hours long. While my walking across the stage was only a small part of it, overall the ceremony was still nice. I enjoyed listening to the UF president speak and seeing other people I know walking across the stage.
After graduation I spent the next hour or so taking photos. We walked to a couple of popular spots and took lots of photos with my family. Once all of the photos were done, we went to lunch at Piesano’s. They have in my opinion some of the best pizza in Gainesville!
When lunch was over a went back to Simon’s and took a much needed two hour nap. When my nap was over Simon and I went over to Aimee’s apartment for a couple of hours before heading out to midtown. We spent the rest of the night there with friends before eventually turning in for the night.
I spent Sunday morning with Simon. We didn’t wake up until around 11:15 and went to IHOP for a late breakfast. After breakfast we walked around the UF bookstore for a while looking at the clothes they have. Unfortunately though, it was then time for me to leave.
My plan was to drive back to St. Petersburg for the night to help my mom decorate the tree, but on my drive home I started not feeling great. I ended up spending most of the night just laying on the couch watching TV and spending time with the guinea pigs.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Monday I drove back up to Orlando. I didn’t have to work that day, so I spent most of the day just sort of hanging out, getting things organized and still not feeling great.
Tuesday I woke up feeling even worse than the day before and decided to go to the doctors. I came back positive for the flu. After getting medicine I went home and basically spent the rest of the day in bed.
The rest of the week I spent most of my time in bed. As far as weeks go it was about as unexciting as they get. I definitely did not plan to spend the week after my graduation this way.
