Can my Disney College Program time stop going by so quickly? Please?? It feels like I just moved in yesterday and now I’m about a month away from moving out. I am so thankful for this opportunity and all of the experiences I’ve had. With that being said, I believe my experience would have been different if I’d done it any other time. I feel like so much of the time not at work is dedicated to applying for jobs.
Friday I was scheduled to work at 5:00pm, but I had to call out for the first time. I had started not feeling good the day before, but by that day I was feeling awful. My reasoning was I didn’t want to have to stay up late and then wake up early to work again. I figured it made more sense to stay home, get a lot done and go to sleep early. The goal was to be better by the next day.
I was happy with my decision to stay home because I was able start decorating for Christmas and do chores. Even though there is a lot of stress going on in my life right now, I am trying to focus on things that make me happy. One of the things I always think about is having an apartment on my own and being able to decorate for the holidays. I am working on slowly building my collection of decorations so when next year comes around I will be ready.
Saturday & Sunday
On both Saturday and Sunday I was working a short shift at French Quarter. As usual, it was an afternoon shift (less than 8.5 hours) so I had all morning to get things done.
I was feeling a lot better and thankful I stayed home the night before on Friday. The rest of my weekend was spent preparing for the week ahead. I needed to run errands to places such as FedEx and Walgreens. I know my daily routine has been pretty similar every day, but with graduation less than a month away and my program over in January, I’m in “get it done” mode and trying to make sure I will be ready when the end of my program comes.
I was supposed to work on Monday, but I gave my shift away so I could run to Tampa for an errand. I spent most of my day driving to and from Tampa, but when I wasn’t doing that, I spent time with my roommates and at Target. Emily and I did some online shopping (gotta get those Cyber Monday deals!) and Shelby and I spent some time working on our planners for next year. Not to spoil all of the pictures that are sure to come, but they are already looking cute as can be!
My Tuesday morning went the way my work mornings typically do. I woke up around 8:00 and got a start on my day. Once again I managed to get behind on my to do list and I was working hard this week to catch up. I finally managed to catch up on my blog after several days of falling behind. I was also able to find more jobs to apply for. I’ve been working hard to make small progresses every day.
That evening I worked on the front desk of French Quarter. It was a good night because I was working with other CPs and there were a lot of people asking questions as opposed to just checking in. The one thing I don’t like about my job is when all I do for the whole shift is check people in. It can get boring after a while, especially when it’s busy and I don’t have time to really enjoy every interaction.
Wednesday was another work day. I was working a mid shift that day though, meaning I started at 10:00 and was out at 6:30. I was doing something different than usual. We have a program going on at the resort that allows people to opt out of housekeeping and receive a gift card if they are interested. I spent the day calling all of the direct to room guests (the ones who did online check in) to see if they would be interested in opting out of housekeeping. Initially I thought I was going to hate it, but I loved it. I was able to create an organization system and it was a lot of fun.
After work I got Taco Bell with Shelby for dinner. We watched the first half of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and hung out. After that, we met up with Emily for the 10:30 showing of Coco. If you know me, you know I can’t usually sit still without falling asleep (especially at night) and I ended up sleeping through part of the movie. For the part I was awake though, I absolutely loved it!
On Thursday I had some things I needed to do on the home front, so I headed to St. Pete for the day. I spent the morning getting my errands done. My dad and I went out to lunch and the went to the store to find a friend for Carol. Her name is Patches 🙂
In the evening my parents and I went to the mall to go shopping. It started out as a shopping trip for me, but ended up being one mostly for my mom. It worked out well though, because she’s in desperate need of clothes.
After shopping we headed home, watched some TV, and then it was time for bed.
Be sure to take look at what I’ve been up to so far during my college program here!
