This week of my Disney College Program was the final week before Christmas season started. Also known as the week of Thanksgiving 🙂
Friday I was working from 5:00pm to 1:30am. I ended up getting to leave work about an hour early though, making it only 12:30. I’m not used to working so late, but the one thing I did like about it was I had my whole day to get things done. It practically felt like I had the day off!
After two days of fun I was ready to get back to getting things done. The final countdown is on and I’m working hard to determine my post-graduation plans. More on that coming soon!
Saturday I let myself sleep in for the first time since my program started! I ended up waking up around 10:30 and it felt so good. My body isn’t used to staying up so late and I needed the sleep.
Since I was working until 1:30am that night I didn’t start until 5:00pm again. That meant I still had so much time to get things done that day! I was able to do everything I wanted to get done for the day and then some!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to leave work early that night. Since I slept in and made coffee around 6:30 though, I did a lot better than I did the night before staying up so late.
On Sunday I was deployed to Coronado Springs. The Florida Hospital was having their annual gala and wanted to make sure their guests didn’t have to wait a long time for check on. Because of this, there were way more people checking in guests than usual.
Because there were so many of us at the desk, the first half of my shift was pretty boring. During the second half though, I was called away for a couple of hours to direct people in the convention center to the valet parking. It was fun because I was able to just sort of hang out. We were also standing outside a Josh Groban concert, so it was basically like I was at the concert, I just wasn’t actually inside.
Monday morning I went resort hopping with a couple of people from work. We went to The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian and The Contemporary. Christmas was in full swing and we walked around looking at lights and decorations.
That afternoon Simon and his friend TJ came up to visit me. We went to the Magic Kingdom. It was very busy, but we were still able to get a lot done because of good planning and luck.
Tuesday I was back at work. I was the runner for the afternoon and when I was done with that, I also had an hour on the desk. I ended up going on the desk early though because I didn’t have anything else to do as the runner. It was a good day, but I was exhausted from all of the excitement of yesterday.
On Wednesday I worked a double. I started at 9:15 and got out at 10:30. In the morning I was on the desk and I was runner in the afternoon. I didn’t really mind working the long shift because it meant more hour I was being paid for.
Happy Thanksgiving!! Thursday was Thanksgiving. I went home in the morning to spend time with my family. Shelby and I were the only ones who had time off so she came with me. We watched the parade, watched part of a movie and ate Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately the turkey wasn’t done in time though, so we had a turkey free dinner haha!
That evening Shelby and I drove back up to Orlando. We went to Michael’s and bought out 2018 planners and then went over to one of Shelby’s friends house for a second Thanksgiving. It was a full day, but I still love the holidays.
See what I’ve been up to at during my program so far here.
