Okay, can we just take a minute to talk about the fact that I’m already on week 15/21 of my college program? It’s going by SO FAST and I seriously need time to slow down! As promised, I’m going to make the most of my last six weeks (so crazy!) and get out there and try it all.
Friday & Saturday
My weekend did not start the way a week of “get out there and try it all” should. I ended up spending both Friday and Saturday working and relaxing. Once again I was deployed to Riverside, this time for a full week. I will admit though, it’s starting to grow on me.
Luckily on Friday though, I was at French Quarter as a runner. Since it was Veteran’s Day weekend, it was busier than it usually is for me, but I was still able to get it all done with time to spare.
On Saturday, the resort was really busy and I was able to assist a lot of guests, meaning time went by quickly. It was so busy I actually ended up being asked to come in early. Both nights after busy days at work I was just ready to get home and get to bed.
Sunday marked my being more than half way to having a day off! I was scheduled to work six days in a row and while I never mind working, that’s still a lot. My morning went like any other job searching and blog posting. Around 1:00 though, I headed to the airport to pick up Shelby. On the way home we stopped by Sonic (after being turned around by the GPS several times) so I could try a diet cherry limeade. I’ve heard how good they are so many times, and it did not disappoint.
Everything was a pretty normal day at work, but I had the opportunity to make a Magical Moment for a guest. Some people came to me for a room change because one of the members of their party was wheelchair bound and couldn’t get up to the second floor. We were able to get them a new room and as we were finishing up the interaction, they mentioned it was their grandma’s first time to Disney World and she had recently been diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. After the guests walked away I went to my FSA and asked if I could do something for them. He sent me to the gift shop and told me to go crazy (but not too crazy).
I asked one of the coordinators there to help me pick out some items and we were able to put together a nice selection for the family, just to make the trip a little more magical. It was such a great feeling knowing I got to do something special for the family.
Monday & Tuesday
Monday and Tuesday were my last two days of work before having two days off and I must say, they could not go by fast enough! My morning went by with my usual applying for jobs and working on the blog and my afternoons past in a flurry of work “excitement”.
I did have the opportunity on Tuesday to go to Disney Springs for a little to pick something up though and see the Christmas decorations, so that was something different to mix up my day.
On Wednesday my dad and Uncle Bob came up to visit. Working for Disney World, I am given a certain number of free tickets based on hours I work. My dad choose to go to Hollywood Studios. When we first arrived we watched the Star Wars show. We also watched Muppet Vision 3D and the Indiana Jones stage show to name a couple of other things.
We went to the Whispering Canyon Cafe for lunch. I had a tuna melt and chips and it was sooo good!
That evening I met up with Emily at EPCOT after work. We wanted to try the new marghrita stand in Mexico, but ended up going somewhere totally different. We got our drinks and walked around the countries looking to see what Christmas decorations were already up.
Thursday morning I picked Shelby up from work around 9:00 and we headed out to do some shopping. We went to Cast Connections which is a cast only store for Disney merchandise. We also went to Company D, another store for cast members.
After our shopping was done we went to Ulta for haircuts. I got my hair cut shorter than it has been in the recent past and I’m loving the length so far.
The night I went with one of my friends from work and her roommate to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party. I had free tickets given to me through work so I would have first-hand knowledge to give guests.
We ate insane amounts of food and watched all the shows special to that night.
